Which Is More Sensitive to Water Stress for Irrigation Scheduling during the Maturation Stage: Grapevine Photosynthesis or Berry Size?

To better understand the sensitivity of berry size and grapevine photosynthesis to water stress, determine soil potential (?) threshold for scheduling irrigation during maturation stage, we simultaneously measured with photographs, leaf net a portable meter, ? tensiometers drying cycles grapevines (Vitis vinifera L.). Our results showed that in development stage III (maturation), was more sensitive stress than size. When decreased beyond ?13.2 ± 0.82 kPa, photosynthesis, stomatal conductance, transpiration, extrinsic (AN/E) intrinsic (AN/gs) use efficiency (WUE) rapidly did not recover thereafter. In contrast, remained close unaffected by decreasing until it reached value ?16.2 0.77 kPa and, thereafter, shrank significantly. conclusion, suggest grapevines, potted mixture used our experiments, should be triggered when reaches kPa. Further, kept lower ?6.9 0.15 after irrigation, because highest values WUE occurred from ?14.6 0.7 arid areas, considered as achieve high-efficiency resources sustainable production grapevines.
